2008 Wulong Chongqing China Mountain Quest Organizing Committee held a press conference in Beijing, announced that the race would be held in Wulong from August 30th to September 2nd. Recognized as one of the highest level of mountain outdoor sports events of the world, this race will be a higher level and specification.

 This race will be held under the auspices of the General Administration of sport of China, the State Administration of Radio Film and Television and Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, and be undertaken by the mountaineering management centre of the General Administration of Sport of China, Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau and Wulong County People's Government and other relevant departments. The registration team has a total of about 23 teams that come from the United States, New Zealand, Germany, France, Spain, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Poland, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong and five national universities and outdoor clubs, the tournament total prize money amounts to 150,000 dollar, which is the highest prize of the internal mountain outdoor sports.

Li Zhixin，director of the mountaineering management centre of the General Administration of Sport of China，introduced that the race would last 4 days，and the race distance was about 260km，and the race course was designed by Mr. Peter Weinig，who is the international senior race course design expert, and the course crossed many scenic areas such as Furong Cave，Wulong Gorge，Three  Natural Born Bridge, Fairy Mountain, Furong River, Wujiang River and so on, the race item included cross-country running, mountain biking, through the canyon, mountain biking / running alternately, canoes, ropes skills, downhill, go against the river , Drifting, cave explore and so on.
